Transforming Communities with Section 278 Infrastructure Works: A Commitment to Excellence
At Argyle, we understand the importance of seamless integration between development projects and existing infrastructure. Our Section 278 (S278) Infrastructure package is designed to enhance, modify, and improve highway infrastructure, ensuring that new developments are well-connected and communities are better served.
S278 schemes encompass a wide range of requirements, from major highway improvements and bespoke infrastructure to street lighting upgrades and traffic calming measures. These essential works form part of legal agreements between developers and local authorities, ensuring that developers fulfil their obligations and ultimately hand over developments to local authorities smoothly and efficiently.
Our recent projects highlight our commitment to quality, collaboration, and community-focused solutions:
Miller Homes, Beacon Park, Catterall
We recently completed a large-scale civils and services upgrade at Beacon Park. Works included the construction of new footpaths and carriageways, installation of new section 104 sewers and manholes, and implementation of a comprehensive traffic management system. We collaborated closely with Miller Homes and Lancashire County Council to provide an alternative solution to the original design, ensuring minimal disruption for residents and site traffic.

Barratt Homes, Hawley Gardens, Thornton Cleveleys
At Hawley Gardens, we upgraded existing infrastructure to support three separate developers. Our work involved constructing footpaths, upgrading highway drainage, headwall construction, resurfacing carriageways, and re-landscaping. Additionally, we refurbished existing street lighting, all while managing an extensive traffic operation. Our client, Barratt Homes, praised our focus on communication and efficient project management.

Bellway Homes, The Mount, Prestwich
One of our most technically challenging projects to date, The Mount required extensive 278 works in a traffic-sensitive area. We successfully upgraded traffic and pedestrian infrastructure, along with major civils, surfacing, and electrical elements. This project demonstrated our ability to manage complex projects, maintain clear dialogue with stakeholders, and deliver a full package both on time and to budget.
